The match length is over four miles long as is a wild stretch of the Middle Severn. Access on match days is easy with plenty of parking points all along the river.
The river here runs over gravel beds and fords with gulleys, islands and slower meandering swims. There are plenty of far and near bank features such as bushes and fallen trees.
Depths very from 2ft to 14ft along the 204 permanent pegs and barbel are main target species along with chub and smaller silver fish.
The flow can be quite strong in areas so heavy leads are required for feeder fishing. Powerful float and feeder rods coupled with strong terminal tackle will be required. Float fishing requires thick speci wagglers, peacock wagglers, bolos and stick floats and it’s also possible to catch with pole gear and big flat floats in odd pegs. There are a lot of quality fish here and ten barbel could give you 60lb or more.
Platforms and waders are required for some pegs.
